NIPANC thanks Lucy Watters

We are profoundly grateful to Lucy Watters for her incredible fundraising efforts for NIPANC in memory of her late mother Deborah

In Lucy’s words, “It was Sunday, October 2nd 2022 when my family and I said a final goodbye to my beloved mother Deborah. She was only 62 years old and died just over a year after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer with metastasis in her liver.

Deborah was otherwise very fit and healthy, so began 12 gruelling sessions of chemotherapy which offered the hope of extending her life, but never a cure.

Deborah went through the rest of her life with great courage, despite her physical and mental suffering. I know I speak for all that knew mum, when I say she was so kind, loving and enthusiastic for all aspects of life. In this world she lit up any room she walked into with her beautiful smile.

Our lives will never be the same again, but we will strive to make her proud and honour her every day that passes”.

An amazing total of £44,122 was raised through Lucy’s efforts and a cheque for that amount was presented to NIPANC Chairperson Ivan McMinn MBE.

Funds were raised in a variety of ways:

  • Donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Deborah Watters

  • Donations from family and friends via JustGiving

  • Lucy and some 30 family members and friends going to Barcelona with 14 of them running the Marathon on 19th March 2023

A fantastic achievement!

The money raised will primarily be used to support research into pancreatic cancer as well as our other core aims of promoting awareness of the cancer’s signs and symptoms by both medical professionals and members of the public and supporting patients and their families.

Our heartfelt thanks again to Lucy, her family, and friends.
